SOAP - Luke 1:1-38 - Human Response

Scripture: Luke 1:28-30 ESV
And he came to her and said, "Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
Observation:
It's so encouraging to see Mary's very human response to an angel showing up and greeting her in such a way.
Application:
The angel told Mary to not be afraid. I can choose to respond to situations with fear or with thanksgiving. I've been thinking a lot lately about practically what it's going to be like having a new baby and then three kids. I can choose to be anxious or I can choose to be greatful.
Prayer:
Father, I pray you would help me to not be afraid, but to remember your blessing on my life. Thank you for recording the human responses of those you have chosen to do great things. Amen.

Awesome!

I love how it struck you that we choose our responses. Hmm. That is so true, and yet I often just let myself get carried away.. and not always in a good way!

Thanks for your observations!
