B90 – Summer session starts next week!

MomsToolbox

Some of you may remember that I read the bible in 90 days earlier this year. I cannot communicate what a blessing this was. Hard, yes, but I was so much closer to the Father through the whole experience.

This session, I have signed up to be a mentor. I will not be reading the whole thing again, but encouraging others to do so. If you are interested, go here to sign up. If you want to be on my team, Amy asks that you put that request in the comment section at the bottom of the sign up.

If this sounds AT ALL like something you’re interested in or something God is calling you to, I encourage you to at least give it a shot. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain!

Come join me, I promise you won’t regret it…

B90 Days – I did it!

image

Whoohoo! I made it! I read through the entire bible in 90 days!!!!!!!!

I really was hoping to take time to recap each week, but that did not happen. Ah well, I’m glad that if I had to give up something, it was blogging and not the reading.

It was hard, and it took sacrifices in other areas, but it was well worth it. I was also doing a book study called A Woman of Moderation by Dee Brestin at the same time, which I’ve now fallen behind in, but my girlfriends will forgive me, I think :) (Hoping to do a review/write up of some kind after I’m done with the book study in a week, so watch for that if you’re interested).

This was a fantastic experience, one that I expect I will do again. Reading that quickly definitely has some disadvantages, but you get to see God’s sovereign plan from start to finish. It provides insight into the character of Jesus Christ. And it really gave me a greater gratitude for what God had done for me through his Son. It’s helped get His Word into my heart and my head in a deeper way. I’ve read through the bible before, but not this fast, and it’s been many years.

Thanks to group 1 for praying for me and keeping me accountable through the weekly check-in. Know that I’m praying for you that haven’t finished yet that you keep on and finish what you’ve started, even if it isn’t in exactly 90 days!

I hope to be able to go back through and at least list all the verses that I underlined, highlighted, or otherwise stood out to me. Going to be time consuming, though, so we’ll see if I get that far.

What’s next? I think I’m going to read a chronological bible, with a goal of finishing by the end of the year. So slightly faster than 1 year, but definitely slower than 90 days. I’ll be using YouVersion to help with the reading plan and I think borrowing a bible from a friend as well, except that I’m going to have to figure out the whole 270 days thing.

The next session of B90 on Mom’s Toolbox starts July 11th. Pray and ask God if it’s something you should consider doing. It’s been a blessing in my life, and it can be in yours as well!

B90 Days – Thoughts from week 6

Readings for the week: 1 Chronicles – Nehemiah

Here’s just a few random thoughts from my readings this week. There was so much good stuff, but with this pace, I just have to keep reading!

*Asaph’s song in 1 Chronicles 16 is chock-full of good stuff! Here’s my favorite part:

1 Chronicles 16:10-11 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!

*I also had lots of thoughts as I was reading Nehemiah. I can’t remember the last time I read the whole book of Nehemiah, and I really enjoyed it. I thought the format was very interesting, how it was a history of events told from the first person perspective interspersed with prayers to our God.

The part I liked the best was Nehemiah 8:9-12

And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, "This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep." For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law. 10Then he said to them, "Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." 11So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, "Be quiet, for this day is holy; do not be grieved." 12And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.

Oh, that the joy of the Lord will be my strength today!

B90x – It Begins!

Well, folks, here it goes! I don’t know if I’ll get to much other blogging in the next 90 days because there’s only so much time in a day, ya know? I am committed to reading 12 pages (or so) every day for the next 90, yikes! Pray for me if you feel so inclined, it’s going to be a challenge, but I know that I will *not* regret it. Hubby even got me a new thinline bible so I can tote it around the house during the day. So if you can’t find me, I’m probably hiding from the kids in the bathroom with my bible ;)
