image

From the publisher:

Some grumpy bees, silly ladybugs and a non-praying mantis . . . all from the best-loved Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends® series!

Buzby and the Grumblebees—it’s about bee-having.

Haily & Bailey's Silly Fight—it’s about getting along.

Milo, the Mantis Who Wouldn't Pray—it's about prayer.

Enjoy the voice talents of Tim Conway, Melissa Disney, Richard Kind, and Sam Mercurio at their very best in this one-of-a-kind box set.

We had not watched much Hermie and Friends until this DVD set arrived in our mailbox, maybe one episode ever. I must say, we love them! I am happy that we get to watch again and again. I brought it to a women’s bible study babysitting event where I had 17 kids from the ages of 18 months to 5 1/2 years. They all thoroughly enjoyed it and happily sat through the 30 minute episode.

What I really appreciated was that the message of each one is the perfect level for the kiddos. My four-year-old came up to her daddy three days after we watched the first episode completely out of the blue and repeated the message perfectly: “Sometimes God says yes, sometimes He says no, and sometimes He says wait.” It opened the door for good theological conversation (well, as theological as you can get with a 4-y.o.)

Personally, I enjoy the bookends, the short clips at the beginning and end that feature Max Lucado and provide a preview/recap of the episode. I felt like if I watched just that part, I could understand what the episode was going to be about and could dialog with my daughter without having to actually watch the entire thing with her.

Each episode has some different and some similar characters, which provides variety. They also feature catchy songs and good graphics. I (meaning my kids) can’t wait to watch some more of these fun and engaging shows!
